The Path to Self-Value and Empowerment

Feeling significant is one of life’s most precious and empowering gifts. We need self-value to start feeling confident and worthy. But let’s face it, the path to self-value & empowerment is a tough journey, right? If you’re nodding in agreement, you’re not alone. Most people wrestle with undervaluing themselves, even if they don’t want to admit it.

“How mind-blowing would it be if you could look at yourself with confidence, value yourself & feel empowered? What if you were completely at ease in the body you were given?”

A couple of hard-hitting questions for you. You can write them down, or not. These are just questions for you & not necessarily need to be shared.

When did you stop loving the person you are and start worrying about what others think?

Did someone or something contribute to you feeling like you weren’t good enough?

Do you find it easier to see the negative parts of your body?

Hmmmm how did you go? Let’s see if we can flip the way you feel, have you heard how powerful your mindset is?

Let’s delve into the realm of mindset, shall we? It’s akin to a wardrobe – you have the power to select what you put on, right? It’s the same with having the ability to shield yourself from the impact of comments & thoughts when you are in the right mindset.  No one can hurt you unless you allow it. Does that make sense? You can navigate life in your own lane, impervious to external judgments if you are coming from the mindset of “I am enough”. It can be & is a challenge, but one well worth embracing. Try writing a post-it on your mirror to remind you. I am uniquely me & beautiful, or I am worthy, or I am Enough.

Our ability to accept and love ourselves often revolves around the tendency to compare ourselves with others. Such comparisons can significantly elevate anxiety levels. But here’s the revelation: you are a unique individual, distinctly you, and they are distinct in their own right. For instance, if unhealthy comparison to someone on social media or spending time with them induces feelings of unworthiness or inadequacy, the remedy is straightforward – disengage from those connections, both online and offline. Out of sight, out of mind for social media. In real life, use kindness to spend either less time or disengage altogether if they are an acquaintance or someone who is not a significant part of your life. This approach can be applied to any source of negative emotions. Surround yourself with positive influences that uplift you, rather than allowing negativity to weigh you down.

So, the first step is to create strategies that prevent comments from affecting you & prevent feelings of not being good enough. Like the exercise above, remove anything that makes you compare yourself. Remember, you can only get hurt if you allow it. Living life on your terms, not taking offence from what others say, is liberating but requires some mindset exercises.

Now, let’s make a list of things you know to be true about yourself. What do you like about yourself, or what have your friends told you they like about you? We’re about to unlock your Superpower, that special something that makes you uniquely you.

Finding self-confidence and self-worth isn’t easy, but it’s worth it.

The path to self-value and empowerment starts with answering a few questions:

  • What brings you joy?
  • What do you dream about?
  • What makes you cry?

Don’t force the answers. Your gut feeling is your best guide. And yes, answering these questions is the first step out of your comfort zone.

For me, my Superpower is creating a wonderful experience for women who’ve been through tough times. Seeing them transform into confident, beautiful, and sexy women for the first time in a long time is incredibly rewarding. It’s a life-changer. I can also pour two identical glasses of wine both with an even amount of wine with one pour! That’s a pretty good Super Power too I reckon.

So, now it’s your turn. What makes you, you? What makes you different and special? Everyone has a Superpower. It doesn’t necessarily mean you can leap tall buildings or turn into the invisible woman, but how cool would that be, it’s something others admire. It’s a skill or talent you might overlook because it feels natural to you. It’s something you can do that are proud of.

Here are 5 ways to identify your Superpowers:

  • What do you like about yourself?
  • Start a list of what you do well.
  • Recall your proudest accomplishments.
  • Ask people who know you well.
  • Can you do unexplained things repeatedly? (like how I can pour wine evenly into 2 glasses. 😉

Embrace your Superpower, celebrate it, and cultivate it in ways you never thought possible. Gain confidence, and self-worth, and steer your life in a positive direction. Be proud of who you are, no matter how quirky or extraordinary or unextraordinary your Superpower may be. Self-acceptance is key.
